The dancers from ‘Amrita Performing Arts‘ are rehearsing ‘Khmeropédies III’, a choreography by Emmanuèle Phuon (see previous takes on this here and here) in view of 3 representations they will give at the Guggenheim Museum in New York later this year.
(The Sony RX1 is really struggling for this kind of work. The AF definitely needs to be much more snappier.)
Here are a few more photographs in the series ‘Development Landscapes’, showing the state of places where people were evicted from. The whole series, combined with landscape photographs of sites in the process of being evicted, will be featured in one of the ‘Mono’ e-books I am preparing for the iPad.
There is a presentation website for what’s cooking with the ‘Mono’ e-books at this link.
Most of these photographs are also part of ‘Quest for Land’, an 11-year long work on land issues in Cambodia, with over 700 photographs and texts by Robert Carmichael. ‘Quest for Land‘ is an iApp available on iTunes.
Meanwhile you can have a look at the other photographs of ‘Development ‘Landscapes’ here on my website.

The ‘Veal Meru’ or cremation site (see the previous days here), is now open to the public. All the public. Not only the Cambodians. A good opportunity to sell the remaining stock of photographs of King Norodom Sihanouk or unrelated balloons. And also to knock on what looks like a solid construction and find out a lot of it sounds quite hollow.
The e-book ‘Royal Silence’ was uploaded on the Apple servers this saturday. I am now waiting for its approval before it is available on iTunes at the iBookstore…

The Year of the Snake is coming. The Chinese owners of big shops in central Phnom Penh invite the lion dancers to perform for good luck (also see here for the previous years).
Yes, the Sony RX1 can shoot in colour. And does it pretty well.

So… May his ashes rest in peace after a turbulent life. With a final procession the remains of King Norodom Sihanouk (see here and here) were carried from the ‘Veal Meru’, or cremation ground, to the Royal Palace, accompanied by his son King Norodom Sihamoni and his wife Queen Mother Monineath.
We will now see if the cambodian public, after having been denied access most of the last 4 days, will be allowed to reclaim the space in front of the Royal Palace to pay respect to the King.
I will finalise the edit of the photographs and the texts for the ebook. I will upload it to Apple by sunday and the work should be available to enjoy on your iPad soon after.
All shot x the Sony RX1
It turned out to be an in-between-day. I thought the remaining ashes from late King Norodom Sihanouk (see here or here) were going to be transported from the ‘Veal Meru’ or cremation site, to the Royal Palace this morning. But no. It will be tomorrow morning. There is already a slight feeling of ‘it is over’, even though the park in front of the Royal Palace and the streets around it are still more or less empty. The guards have lowered their stress levels, and I was even briefly allowed inside the ‘Veal Meru’ compound…
All taken with the Sony RX1 (the pics from the previous post as well, but I’m sure you noticed…)
The ebook about King Norodom Sihanouk will be available on the iTunes bookstore soon. Stay tuned…
