First testimony at the ECCC trial…

During the civil war before the Khmer Rouge took power, François Bizot, a french archaeologist, was taken prisoner for 3 months by Duch at the M13 detention camp, and finally released. A fate hundreds of other prisoners will not be able to share. M13 was the prefiguration of the S21 interrogation center where over 10000 people were interrogated and killed during the Khmer Rouge regime.

Aw geez, now the PR guy made a mistake. He let two photographers in the pool and there was authorisation for three… Missed yet another chance to take pics of Khieu Samphan…

There is a multimedia slideshow on the Ka-set website about Duch’s pardon (this picture isn’t in there)…

It seems there will be no more photo ops at the trial of Duch. Judges judge… They haven’t got a clue that history is also written with photographs. They should know better though: they use pictures as evidence in their own courts…

Couldn’t get in this time. Bad luck with the draw. So I will not have the first real day of Duch’s trial in my archive…

All there is left to do is trying to get excited with what is left… Journalists, and a bit of the public…

The yearly Tini Tinou circus parade hit the streets of Phnom Penh again. Organised by Phare Ponleu Selpak, an NGO promoting Children’s Rights and created in the Site 2 refugee camp in 1986, it draws attention to a circus festival they are having at their headquarters in Battambang. They need money and they are really worth supporting: many very good artists, not only circus artists but also painters and musicians are trained there.

There is a multimedia slideshow of the parade at Ka-set.
