Back to Work

The New Year celebrations and holidays are over. It is back to work for the Boeung Kak Ladies fighting their eviction. They tried to demonstrate in front of the Council for the Development of Cambodia where the annual donor meeting is (should be?) taking place. But no one important seemed to be there. They thought of going to the Council of Ministers. They ended up boarding tuk-tuks and doing a sit-in in front of the Municipality, met a deputy something and left unsatisfied…

And then, in the afternoon, I get a call: ‘They are demolishing a house in village 22… They have AK 47’s’… By the time I get there only the villagers remain, standing guard. No police, thugs, or demolition workers around.
