Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013

Boeung Kak Lake community entangled in a 4-year long land issue (see here, here and here) went to the Council of Ministers to check on a hypothetical response to the petition they delivered earlier this month. 17 other communities were supposed to join but I couldn’t spot any. Every statement, every word will be heard by the Boeung Kak Lake community entangled in a 4-year struggle to keep their land (see here, here and here): Kep Chuktema, Governor of Phnom Penh, stated on television that those left without a land title at Boeung Kak have no right to claim rightfull ownership. Pride…

Monday, January 14th, 2013

Boeung Kak Lake (see here ,here and here) has its pride and didn’t take it that the head of the prison where their fellow activist Yorm Bopha is jailed would treat them as being ‘brainless’, so they went to demonstrate in front of the Ministry of Interior. The smiling policemen kept everyone on the sidewalk. […]

Phnom Penh Tries Green (7)

Friday, January 11th, 2013

Today: back to street 15… Phnom Penh is a crowded city. A real organic city: growing, evolving, adapting spontaneously with its inhabitants. Unlike many developed countries, and still for now, most Cambodians have their roots in a rural environment, subject to the laws of mother nature. The migrants coming to the capital adapt quickly to […]
