Boeung Kak Lake to Court (again)…

Friday, February 24th, 2012

A little less than 100 Boeung Kak Lake residents showed up at the Municipal Court in support of 4 of them having to answer questions from a Judge… Lots of praying, screaming and crying. And lots of umbrellas against the blistering heat… And if you had any doubts about the disappearance of the Boeung Kak […]

‘The Quest’ for iPad: the Team

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

My competences as a writer or an application developer are rather limited. I need some help to put the iApp for ‘The Quest’ together, both for writing the text that has to ‘go along’ the pictures providing a broader viewpoint, and for pulling the ropes in the navigation and coding that’ll give access in a […]

Borei Keila follow-up

Saturday, February 11th, 2012

LICADHO came to the forced relocation site for the Borei Keila evicted near Oudong with a truckload of food and also dispensed medical care. 42 families are still in limbo out there, sheltering from the heat under plastic tarp, not knowing where they will be sent next.

‘The Quest’ for iPad: why?

Friday, February 10th, 2012

I am sorry but there is going to be more writing and less photographs than usual in these posts… I am going to go through the nuts and bolts of the creation process of that App about land issues in Cambodia. Hopefully you’ll follow me, enjoy it and learn from it just as much as […]

Borei Keila follow-up

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

There are more and more plastic bags and feces in the bushes surrounding the forced relocation site for the Borei Keila evicted. Still some 30 families are living under makeshift tents. Others build their new house with bits and pieces… Friday, LICADHO, who was providing medical care this wednesday, should be distributing goods.

Borei Keila and Boeung Kak are very busy

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

It was a busy day in front of the Municipality this tuesday. The evicted residents from Borei Keila came to denounce the living conditions they are in since their homes were rased on January 3rd. Riot police closed in and arrested 6 people, several of them having already forcibly spent time in the Prey Speu […]

The Quest for Land on an iPad/2

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Definitely better to meet Robert Starkweather from K4Media on a sunday at Java Café instead of at my ‘office’ to iron things out for the ‘Quest for Land’ iApp. The Blueberry Berry Smoothie is a treat. There is air-con and Wi-Fi. The glasses may be empty but the very first test flights of the iApp […]

Borei Keila follow-up

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Several families have left the forced relocation site at Phnom Bat. Land is being measured out and 4 poles to start building a new home is being distributed to those who remain. Haven’t figured out if the poles are deducted from the compensation money they are supposed to receive from Phanimex… A door-to-door salesman with […]
