Banners and borders

Spent the last three days going and coming to Preah Vihear… There was a ceremony announced that UNESCO would raise a banner at the 11th century World Heritage temple which is in the middle of a border controversy between Cambodia and Thailand. It turned out the ceremony was organised by the Cambodian National Council for UNESCO, and not really by UNESCO itself…That other ceremony is supposed to take place in December. But I guess that two days before important peace talks take place between both parties in Siem Reap raising a banner helps Cambodians to make a point…

The annoying thing is you spend 2x 12h on dangerous roads with irresponsible taxi drivers to get there, and accomodation in Sra Em, at the foot of the cliff, is quite basic…
