Full Moon…

I nearly forgot about the full moon last night. The last one before the cremation of King Norodom Sihanouk (see here). That means there was a big gathering of monks in front of the Royal Palace. Not so obvious to think about if you don’t live with the moon cycles. You get to know these special occasions mostly by chance here. I spotted a more than usual concentration of elderly people in front of the palace the morning after the rehearsal for next week’s procession, and a pattern laid out in the grass. Sure enough at 5pm a few thousand monks showed up… King Norodom Sihamoni and the Queen Mother came outside of the palace to pray.
