Cambodia Floods update 4

The road along the Mekong going North just after the Prek Ta Meak bridge has been badly damaged by the floods. At one point the water was about 1 meter higher than today’s level. Some 100 students from what I understood (and I don’t understand that much, my Khmer being rather basic) the Hun Sen and Bun Rany school were scraping the soil with hoes to try and give the surface a semblance of smoothness. Was it because the music blaring from the loudspeakers, intended to lift their spirits, had the opposite effect? There were not many smiles, except from the guy mumbling in his telephone to his superiors: he was very happy I would testify on this youthfull (and voluntary?) energy.

These and a few more pictures were integrated in the floods story on my website.

The story is also featured on the homepage of the Magnum website.
