Okay, Photo Phnom Penh is officially opened.
But why are openings always so unsatisfying? Could it be post-partum depression?
Don’t get me wrong… There is some really nice work to be seen, and the French Cultural Center did an incredible job piecing things together. It’s just that I wonder if people really care about this. If it has any impact at all… It’s all so fleeting. Seems so inefficient. A visitor to an exhibition remains always so much on the surface of things. Never ever will he go through the same experience as the photographer. There is no way he could. But I guess that’s what it is about finally: you lose control on what you show once you’ve shown it, and you’ll have to live with that.
