Fun for the Spirits
The last day of Pchum Ben, the time when Cambodians remember and honour the spirits of their deceased. In Vihear Sour, since 70 years, they add some entertainment for the spirits as well: they hold buffalo races. But it seems the spiritual part of the race, when the buffaloes are gathered for prayer in front of the spirit house has disappeared. And they add horses. And the riders are all dressed up… But it is definitely great fun.
