Monday Verdict

On the morning of monday, July 26th, the first verdict in the Khmer Rouge trial will be announced. It is never too late of course. But 30 years?

Anyhow I have a feeling Mr. Kaing Guek Eav still has something up his sleeve which will not make that day as satisfying as it could be.

And no, I will not be attending the verdict hearing. My plane for Phnom Penh will only arrive on the 28th. I did ask for a one day postponement of the verdict to one of the judges, but to no avail…

CAMBODIA. Kambol (Phnom Penh). 20/11/2007: Kang Guek Eav, alias Duch, in charge of the S21 interrogation center between 1975 and 1979, at his first public hearing at the ECCC.

As a reminder: you can download the dummy of a book about Duch’s trial here (I am still looking for a publisher).
