Spent a few days digging in the Khmer Rouge times again: a 3-day assignment (the first assignment in 1 1/2 year) for L’Express. Places of memories, portraits of people with memories.

CAMBODIA. Tchiyok (Stoung district, Kompong Thom). 23/03/2009: In front of the birthplace of Kaing Guek Eav, alias Duch, in charge of the S21 interrogation Center during the Khmer Rouge regime

CAMBODIA. Trach (Kompong Thom). 23/03/2009: Tuol Phlong memorial, located 1km from the Rasmey Sophana school which was used as a detention and torture center by the Khmer Rouge.
And then, after that, for two evenings, took pictures of the rehearsals of Khmeropédies II. A choreography by Emmanuelle Phuong. She has danced with Baryshnikov and now, with her Khmer origins, she is questioning her roots, checking and pushing and cross-pollinating, bridging between classical khmer dance and contemporary ballet. And the result is VERY interesting. A healthy breath of fresh air on tradition.

CAMBODIA. Phnom Penh. 26/03/2009: Rehearsals of Khmeropédies II, choreography by Emmanuelle PHUONG.
