First and Last

In a strange coincidence uniting the good side and the worst side of humanity, here are the first and the last photograph in my database taken on Kodak Tri-X.

It seems Kodak wants to sell what they were doing best: their film department. Soon there might not be any Tri-X available. Is there a buyer around? If not then the King is dead, and long live the King…

I spent weeks processing the thousands of rolls for the 768 stories I shot on that film between 1969 and 2007.

Update: I learned just now that Neil Armstrong died on August 25th…

BELGIUM, Ohain (Brabant). 209/07/1969: The first moon landing of Appollo 11 with Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong. That same summer, Eddy Merckx won his first Tour de France, (overall, mountains and points jerseys).

CAMBODIA. Koh Sla (Kampot). 10/05/2007: Bones found by villagers on a newly discovered burying site of Khmer Rouge victims who died of illness and starvation while building the Koh Sla dam. The site was disturbed by villagers looking for jewelry.
