Quickly, Before You Party

Friday, December 31st, 2010

The Boeung Kak eviction will not stop during New Year. True, this thursday morning the pipes were not gushing sand and water into the lake. But the pressure on the inhabitants to leave remains exactly the same… And it will go on in 2011… Not everyone will be happy in 2011…

Match 76

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Still more than 15 years apart and still from the Water in Sahel story. And then from the Dey Krohom eviction story a picture I did not use in the final edit.

Match 75

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

Ok… Back to the Match series. Remember: there is at least 15 years between two similar pictures… First the Water in Sahel story. That was in 1985. Then the Svan story from ‘Peuples d’en Haut‘: was in 1999.

Development on Website

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

The Northern bridge where the stampede killing over 300 people during the Water Festival took place, has changed colour from orange to green. […]

Circling Boeung Kak Lake

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

The sand pumped into Boeung Kak Lake by development company Shukaku Inc. has now reached the North Western edge of the lake, forcing even more families out of their homes. And these are homes made out of bricks and stone, not just timber and tin sheets. Compensation: 8500$… Another compensation: the house where some of […]

Xmas on Boeung Kak Lake

Saturday, December 25th, 2010

Why would Shukaku Inc. celebrate Christmas anyhow? They are in a hurry to get that lake filled with sand… Regardless of the situation they put the evicted families in. They have deadlines. They develop the land, not the people…

He is going to drop things…

Friday, December 24th, 2010

Unless you light a fire in the chimney… (not many chimneys over here though). Merry Xmas to all from Far Far Far Away Kingdom of Wonder…
